Clash at G20- Brazil’s First Lady Insults Elon Musk Over Social Media Control

-

In a fiery exchange at a G20 social event, Brazil’s First Lady, Janja Lula da Silva, didn’t hold back in criticizing billionaire Elon Musk, calling for stricter regulation of social media to combat misinformation. During her speech, the sound of a ship’s horn interrupted her, leading her to joke,

“I think it’s Elon Musk,”

before adding,

“I’m not afraid of you, f–k you, Elon Musk.”

Musk, the owner of social network X, responded to a video of her remarks with a laughing emoji. Later, he posted, “They are going to lose the next election,” referencing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Janja Lula da Silva was speaking ahead of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, where she emphasized the importance of controlling misinformation on social media.

Earlier this year, Musk’s platform X was suspended in Brazil for a month after failing to appoint a legal representative and disregarding court orders to block accounts spreading fake news and hate messages.
