Government Eyes Intervention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The government has seriously started considering the implementation of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Law, Barrister Aqeel, during a conversation on a private TV program. He mentioned that the federal government believes that imposing Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for a certain period would be a suitable step and it is being deliberated upon.
He stated that the Prime Minister’s position on the matter of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is very clear, and the majority of federal cabinet members also support Governor’s Rule in KP. The government is considering the imposition of Governor’s Rule for a short time in this situation.
Regarding the government’s planning, he explained that the first step would be to bring a resolution to the provincial assembly. If this is not possible, then the Prime Minister will recommend the Governor’s Rule to the President of Pakistan and send a proposal. The matter could then be brought to a joint session of Parliament. He hinted that a joint session of Parliament is likely to take place within the next ten days.
