m Index – Pakistan is ranked 101st, improving by 20 places

Pakistan has ranked 101st in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Travel & Tourism Development Index 2024, an improvement of 20 places compared to 2019.

The report awarded Pakistan a score of 3.41 out of 7, indicating a 3.6% enhancement over the past five years.

As a lower-middle-income economy, Pakistan is part of the Asia-Pacific regional group in the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024. The Asia-Pacific region was the second-best performer among regions, with 10 out of 19 economies exceeding the index average and 11 showing improved scores since 2019.

The top-ranked countries for 2024 are the United States, Spain, Japan, France, and Australia. The Middle East saw the highest recovery rates in international tourist arrivals, reaching 20% above 2019 levels.

Comparatively, Pakistan’s TTDI score places it above countries like Nepal and Bangladesh in South Asia. However, it trails behind higher-ranked countries in the region such as India and Sri Lanka, which have higher scores across most TTDI pillars.

Pakistan’s high seasonality of international tourist arrivals reflects the country’s appeal as a travel destination, but infrastructure and enabling conditions for tourism development remain areas needing improvement.
