“From viral fame to a legal nightmare—YouTuber Rajab Butt’s perfume launch sparks outrage, igniting nationwide controversy.”
It all started with a YouTube vlog—a routine product launch turned into a firestorm. Popular Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt introduced his perfume “295”, named after Pakistan’s blasphemy laws, unaware that it would spark massive backlash.
The name drew sharp criticism, with many accusing him of mocking religious laws. Soon after, religious party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) filed a complaint, leading to criminal charges under PECA and Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code.
As the controversy escalated, Butt deleted the promotional video, discontinued the perfume, and issued an emotional apology. While performing Umrah at Masjid al-Haram, he stood in Ihram, holding the Quran, swearing by Allah that he never intended to offend anyone. He insisted that a crucial part of his video had been edited out, distorting his words and fueling the outrage.

Despite his plea, the charges remain serious, with the FIR detailing accusations that could result in a 10-year prison sentence if convicted. Seeking support, Butt has appealed to religious scholars, the Punjab government, and the Pakistan Army, urging them to reconsider the case.
This isn’t his first run-in with the law—earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a lion cub, avoiding jail by agreeing to promote animal rights awareness.
Now, with both his career and freedom hanging in the balance, Butt ends his plea with a final apology to Allah, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and all Muslims, hoping for forgiveness and justice.
