Popular YouTuber MrBeast, known for his extravagant challenges and charitable efforts, is now facing legal issues related to his latest project.
A contestant has filed a lawsuit against MrBeast, alleging he exploited participants in his $5 million jackpot game show. The lawsuit claims contestants experienced unfair treatment and sexual harassment while competing in what was advertised as the world’s largest live game show.
Filed in a Los Angeles court on Monday, it asserts that participants were not paid fairly and were denied meal breaks and adequate rest.
The plaintiffs, referred to as Contestants 1-5, have named Amazon Alternative LLC and MrBeast’s production company, MRB2024 LLC, in the case. They are seeking unpaid wages, an injunction to stop the alleged labor practices, and class-action status.
The complaint states that “Amazon and the production companies exploited the labor of… contestants in the $100 million MrBeast-Amazon show ‘Beast Games,’ promoted as the world’s largest live game show with the biggest prize in television history.”
Additionally, the lawsuit argues that the show’s entertainment value relies on the physical and emotional efforts of contestants, who competed under significant pressure for a chance to win $5 million.
There has been no response from MrBeast regarding the lawsuit, and Amazon has declined to comment.
With over 300 million subscribers, MrBeast is one of YouTube’s most popular creators, recognized for his large-scale challenges and substantial prizes. He has also launched philanthropic projects and was named one of Time magazine’s most influential people in 2023.
