Google’s ‘Think Apps 2024’ Shaping Pakistan’s Digital Future

-

Google recently hosted its flagship event, “Think Apps 2024,” marking a significant milestone for Pakistan‘s tech sector.

As the nation advances its digital landscape, the event provided a crucial platform for developers and industry leaders to explore the future of app development.

Held in the provincial capital, “Think Apps 2024” assembled nearly 350 of Pakistan’s leading developers, alongside global and regional industry experts.

Building on the success of “Think Apps 2023,” this year’s event—now the industry’s largest—focused on empowering developers to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to foster innovation, growth, and sustainability in Pakistan’s evolving app industry, as announced by a Google spokesperson on Wednesday.

According to Access Partnership’s latest Economic Impact Report, Pakistan could see a $6.6 billion annual revenue boost by 2030 through digital exports, with the gaming and app industry identified as a key growth sector.

The country’s gaming and app industry has shown impressive growth in recent years, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32% in global downloads of locally-made apps from 2018 to 2023.

Despite a slight decline in overall app downloads in 2023, positioning Pakistan 17th globally, the industry remains strong, with in-app purchase (IAP) revenue surging by 50%.
