LAHORE: Pakistan leg-spinner Usman Qadir, who recently played for the Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup, has officially retired from representing Pakistan.
The cricketer shared the news in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), where he reflected on his career and expressed his gratitude.
Qadir, who last played for Pakistan in 2022, said, “Today, I announce my retirement from Pakistan cricket. It has been an honor to represent my country, and I am immensely thankful to my coaches, teammates, and passionate fans who supported me throughout this journey.”
He also spoke about the highs and lows of his career, adding, “From unforgettable victories to challenging moments, each experience has enriched my life and career. I will continue to honor my father’s legacy and the values he instilled in me.”
Usman, the son of the legendary leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, played 25 T20Is and one ODI for Pakistan, taking 29 wickets with an economy rate of 7.95. Recently, he criticized former PCB technical director Mohammad Hafeez, claiming Hafeez influenced his exclusion from the national team despite promises of selection based on his domestic performances.
At 31, Qadir steps away from international cricket but remains committed to the sport, carrying the spirit of Pakistan cricket into his next chapter.
