Pakistan has qualified to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026 not because of their performance in the current World Cup, but because of their 7th place ranking in the ICC.
After the recent T20 World Cup ended, the teams for the next one in 2026 in India and Sri Lanka are now set. The tournament will have 20 teams split into four groups of five.
India and Sri Lanka will host the event, while the other 10 spots were earned through qualifiers and team rankings. Teams like Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and the United States have all qualified.
Pakistan, New Zealand, and Ireland secured spots based on their rankings. The final eight teams for the 2026 World Cup will be decided through regional qualifiers: two spots for Africa, Asia, and Europe, and one each for the Americas and East-Asia Pacific.
India won the T20 World Cup in 2024 by defeating South Africa by seven runs, marking their second title after their first win in 2007 under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy against Pakistan.
