Sri Lanka Outclassed India by Clinching Series After 27 Years

In an exciting and historic moment for Sri Lanka cricket, the national team achieved a remarkable victory over India in the ODI series.

Sri Lanka outclassed the world champions in every part of the game. This significant win marked the first time since 1997 that Sri Lanka triumphed over India in a series of this format.

The home team showcased their skills and determination, securing a memorable win in Colombo.

Sri Lanka won the three-match ODI series 2-0. The first game ended in a tie, Sri Lanka won the second match by 32 runs, and clinched the series by defeating Rohit Sharma and his team by 110 runs in the third ODI on Wednesday in Colombo. .

India’s batting lineup struggled as they were all out for 138 runs in 26.1 overs while chasing a target of 249. India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, was the top scorer for his team with 35 runs off 20 balls.

Veteran player Virat Kohli also struggled, scoring only 20 runs off 18 balls before getting out.

After the dismissals of Sharma and Kohli, the middle order collapsed. Rishabh Pant (6), Shreyas Iyer (8), and Axar Patel (2) couldn’t handle Sri Lanka’s spin bowlers.

Washington Sundar scored 30 runs off 25 balls, but India was left at 138 for nine in 26 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was dismissed on the first ball of the 27th over, sealing Sri Lanka’s historic ODI series win against India.

For Sri Lanka, Dunith Wellalage took five wickets, while Jeffrey Vandersay claimed two.

Sri Lanka batted first and scored 248 for seven in their 50 overs, thanks to a strong start by their opening pair.

Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando added 89 runs in 19.4 overs before Nissanka was dismissed for 45 off 65 balls.

Fernando scored 95 off 102 balls, just missing his century. Kusal Mendis then added 59 runs, and Kamindu Mendis contributed 23 runs towards the end, helping Sri Lanka set a competitive total.
