Islamabad United Win PSL 9 and Raise Palestine Flag to Show Solidarity

Islamabad United players secured their third Pakistan Super League (PSL) title by defeating Multan Sultans in the final match at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium.

Islamabad United performed excellently in the final held last night at National Stadium, Karachi in an impressive challenge against Multan Sultans.

Shadab Khan performed excellently while Hunain Shah settled the last ball of the final match for a boundary taking Islamabad United for the win.

This marks their third PSL victory making them champions for the third time while it would’ve been a second PSL trophy for Multan Sultans had they won.

However, the win wasn’t the most wholesome moment as Islamabad United players raised the Palestinian flag in the ground.

Solidarity with Palestine

Their triumph extended beyond the cricket field as they won the hearts of many by showing solidarity with Palestinians.

In a remarkable display of unity, the players wore flags on their backs, waving the Palestinian flag after their win. This gesture resonated deeply with fans and spectators, highlighting the team’s commitment to global issues.

All the renowned players such as the captain of Islamabad United Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and Hunain Shah wore the Palestinian flag on their backs and waved it.

PSL had already been greatly criticized for taking sponsorships from KFC that has been on a nationwide boycott for some time now.

Furthermore, videos surfaced in which the authorities as the matches were taking the Palestinian flags from the people and restricted them from waving or raising them.

This gesture of Islamabad United has been greatly appreciated far and wide and shows the support of Pakistani people for Palestine.

Islamabad United’s victory, their third in PSL history, further solidifies their position as the most successful team in the tournament.
