The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated an investigation into a senior official accused of a conflict of interest after it was discovered that a company linked to him participated in a bidding process for outdoor billboard advertising.
The inquiry began after the PCB issued a call for pre-qualification bids for outdoor billboard advertising.
Among the submissions was a bid from a company associated with a senior official from the HR department. Upon realizing the connection, the PCB disqualified the company and launched an investigation into the official’s potential conflict of interest and other related allegations.
Initially, the official denied any involvement with the company, but later admitted his connection. Notably, this individual has served on several bid committees in the past, raising further concerns.
The investigation’s outcome will guide any subsequent actions, although there are reports that some within the PCB are attempting to shield the official from repercussions.
However, sources close to the matter emphasized that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is determined to uphold transparency and will act based on the investigation’s findings.
Should the official be found guilty of any misconduct, he is expected to face strict disciplinary measures.
The situation also brings to light past incidents, including a former director who awarded contracts to his own companies, leading to significant personal gain. Action was taken against him in a separate case.
When approached for comments, PCB representatives declined, citing the board’s policy of not publicly discussing ongoing investigations.
