Pakistani wrestling sensation Ather Zahid, 29, is officially preparing to compete for the prestigious Asian Wrestling Championship title, following his emphatic victory over Indian wrestler Samrat Virendra on June 7 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The high-stakes match, which took place during Eid-ul-Adha 2025, served as a qualifier for the Asian Championship. In front of a roaring international crowd, Zahid delivered a dominant performance, finishing the bout with his signature move the Desert Slam and securing his place among Asia’s top-tier wrestlers.
“This win is for the people of Pakistan,” Zahid said after the match. “My journey is just beginning. The Asian Championship is next, and I’m going all in.”
Born in Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia on September 30, 1995, to Pakistani parents, Ather Zahid has quickly risen through the ranks of professional wrestling. Standing at 6ʹ5ʺ, and known for his power-packed performances, Zahid has made a name for himself as the first Saudi-born Pakistani wrestler to break into the international circuit.
