Pakistani Runners Shine at Istanbul Marathon, Showcasing Skill

KARACHI: Pakistani runners made a strong impact at the 46th Istanbul Marathon, with Amjad Ali leading the way as the country’s top finisher. Ali completed the race in 2 hours, 49 minutes, and 29 seconds, securing an impressive 47th place overall among thousands of participants in the world’s only intercontinental long-distance race.

Several other Pakistani runners also displayed remarkable endurance. Muzammil Khan Niazi finished in 3 hours, 13 minutes, and 45 seconds, while Bilal Umar completed his run in 3 hours, 45 minutes, and 58 seconds. Ali Khurshid, Rohail Ahmed, Asad Tungeker, and Muhammad Adnan all crossed the finish line in under four hours, reflecting Pakistan’s growing talent on the global marathon stage.

The 42-kilometre route spanned from Istanbul’s Asian side to its European side, adding a unique appeal to the event. Ethiopian runner Dejene Debela won the men’s event with a time of 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 40 seconds, followed by Kenyan runners Matthew Samperu and Kenneth Kiprop Kipkemoi in second and third place. Bahrain’s Ruth Jebet claimed the women’s title
