Pakistan to Host Twin Mega Weightlifting Competitions

-

World Masters Weightlifting Grand Prix & Asian Weightlifting Championships will be held in February 2026

Pakistan is gearing up for a historic sports moment as Islamabad will host two mega events — the Asian Masters Weightlifting Championship and the World Masters Grand Prix — in February 2026.

According to organizers, over 50 countries have confirmed participation, making it one of the biggest international sporting events to be held in Pakistan in recent years. The competitions will not only give Pakistani lifters a chance to shine on home soil but also promote the sport across the country.

A five-member delegation led by Denis Offerman, President of the World Masters Weightlifting Organization, will arrive in Islamabad on September 9, 2025, to finalize arrangements.

Sports experts say this event marks another milestone in Pakistan’s rise as a trusted host for global competitions, following its successful bid for the 2026 South Asian Games.
