The Pakistan Hockey Team secured their first win in the ongoing Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, defeating Japan 2-1 at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, China.
Nadeem Ahmed put Pakistan ahead with a goal in the first quarter. Japan equalized in the second quarter, but Sufyan Khan scored again for Pakistan in the 10th minute of the same quarter, sealing the victory.
Prior to this win, Pakistan had drawn their first two matches. They ended their game against South Korea on September 9 in a 2-2 draw after a late equalizer from Korea.
Pakistan had initially led by two goals, with Hanan Shahid scoring twice in the fourth quarter to turn the game around before Korea’s final goal.
Pakistan’s previous match against Malaysia on September 8 also ended in a 2-2 draw. The team will next face China on September 12 and India on September 14 in the tournament.
