Karachi: Pakistani squash player Nasir Iqbal has won the Bega Open 2024 title in Australia, marking his 17th career title and earning $12,000 in prize money.
Iqbal defeated Hong Kong’s Matthew Lai with scores of 11-6, 11-1, and 11-3 in the final match, which lasted just 24 minutes, showcasing his skill and dominance.
This victory is part of an impressive run, with Iqbal winning four of his last five tournaments. He is set to compete in upcoming events in Malaysia.
In the semi-final, Iqbal overcame Switzerland’s Robin Gadola 3-1, with game scores of 6-11, 11-4, 2-11, and 3-11. Despite a challenge in the second game, Iqbal secured a strong win.
Currently ranked 116th globally in the PSA rankings, Iqbal has shown remarkable form this year.
