Pakistan Vs South Africa-First Test Match Begins Today!

-

The much-awaited first Test between Pakistan and South Africa kicks off today, 26th December 2024, at Supersport Park, and it’s set to be a thrilling encounter. This Boxing Day Test is not just a regular match—it’s a high-stakes clash that promises to keep cricket fans on the edge of their seats.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. If South Africa wins, they’ll seal their place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. On the other hand, a victory for Pakistan will keep their slim hopes alive for a chance at the WTC final—though they’ll need an over-rate penalty for South Africa to make that dream a reality. But more importantly, a win will ignite Pakistan’s cricket fans and keep the excitement buzzing for another week.

The match will see some key players stepping up to the plate. Captain Babar Azam is back in the lineup, ready to lead from the front, while seasoned pacer Mohammad Abbas returns after a nearly three-year hiatus. The big question is: Can young stars like Saim Ayub and Naseem Shah handle the pressure? The answers will unfold over the next five days in what promises to be an unforgettable series opener.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced their playing XI, with Shan Masood joining Saim Ayub at the top of the order, following the drop of Abdullah Shafique due to his recent form. The rest of the batting lineup stays unchanged with Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, and Salman Ali Agha all included.

Pakistan’s all-pace attack will feature the experienced Mohammad Abbas alongside Naseem Shah, Khurram Shahzad, and all-rounder Aamir Jamal.

Pakistan Playing XI: Shan Masood (c), Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saud Shakeel, Salman Ali Agha, Aamir Jamal, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas.

South Africa Playing XI: Temba Bavuma (c), Tony de Zorzi, Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Dane Paterson, Corbin Bosch.

Get ready for a high-octane start to the series—this is one Test you won’t want to miss!
