New Zealand’s historical win in India after 69 years and 13 series

-

In an epic upset, New Zealand made cricket history with their first-ever Test series win in India, breaking India’s 18-series home winning streak!

India’s hopes crumbled while chasing 359, bowled out for 245 on day three as the home crowd watched in shock. New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner stole the show, taking 6 for 104 runs after his incredible 7 for 53 in India’s first innings of 156, leaving fans and players alike stunned.

Player of the Match, Santner, shared how his confidence grew with each wicket, saying, “It just got better.” Indian batsmen struggled throughout the series, including a record-low total of 46 in the first match.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham couldn’t contain his pride, saying, “Many New Zealand teams have tried for 69 years and 13 series; being the first to win here is special.” This is a breakthrough for the Black Caps, who previously faced 13 series defeats in India.

Despite this setback, Indian captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged the team’s difficulties, admitting, “It’s a collective failure… a few poor innings, but it happens.” India still remains at the top of the World Test Championship standings, with Australia close behind.

The final match of the series kicks off on November 1 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where India will aim to recover against the record-breaking New Zealand squad.
