373,691 Spectators at MCG for Boxing Day Match – 87 Year Old Record Broken

Melbourne: The 87-Year-Old Record for Spectator Attendance Broken During the Australia-India Boxing Day Test Match

According to Geo News, a new all-time record for spectators was set during the Australia-India Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Over the five days of the Australia-India Test match, 373,691 spectators attended the match at the stadium.

Previously, in 1937, a Test match played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground had been watched by 350,034 spectators, setting the record for spectators at the Australia-England Boxing Day Test. The match was played under the leadership of Don Bradman.

In addition, during the 2022 T20 World Cup at the MCG, 90,293 spectators attended the Pakistan-India match.

It is important to note that the Boxing Day Test match is most popular in Australia, traditionally starting on December 26th, where the host team faces the visiting team in a historic match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
