Embarrassing, Painful, Depressing, Speechless – Cricket Legends React to Pakistan’s Defeat Against Bangladesh

-

Pakistan’s slump in form continued with another home series loss to Bangladesh, despite playing on familiar turf.

In contrast, Bangladesh demonstrated confidence and skill, taking full advantage of Pakistan’s struggles.

This latest defeat has heightened concerns about Pakistan’s performance, drawing strong criticism from cricket legends.

Former Pakistani cricketer and PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja described Pakistan’s situation as requiring ‘herculean’ efforts to recover. In his video message, he commented, “Bangladesh were brilliant in all departments and far ahead of Pakistan. I don’t know how Pakistan cricket will recover; only a miracle can help with England about to arrive.”

Raja expressed his deep disappointment, saying, “I’m depressed about our future. We fielded both experienced and newer players, but lost in both situations.”

He continued, “Nothing has gone in Pakistan’s favour with the change of captaincy. Babar Azam is under immense pressure, and our middle order continues to collapse. Due to fitness issues, we’ve been forced to use extra fast bowlers. I’m speechless and disappointed because when Pakistan loses, everyone connected to cricket here feels the pain.”

Cricket legend Javed Miandad echoed these concerns, stating, “It’s painful to see our cricket reach this point. Bangladesh deserves credit, but our batting collapse is alarming.”

Inzamam-ul-Haq, another former captain, lamented, “We’ve lost three series and failed to win in nine home Tests. Our batsmen need to deliver runs for us to succeed.”

Former skipper Younis Khan highlighted the need for mental resilience, saying, “Our batters need mental strength to overcome this crisis.”

Former star batsman Ahmed Shehzad warned, “If our batters can’t handle pace at home, the future looks bleak.”

Renowned off-spinner Iqbal Qasim suggested focusing on nurturing spin bowlers, as that might be Pakistan’s best chance going forward.

Indian cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle labelled Pakistan’s performance as “embarrassing,” while former West Indian cricketer Ian Bishop praised Bangladesh for lifting the spirits of their nation during this crucial time.
