Argentina claimed the 2024 Copa América title with a 1-0 victory over Colombia, securing the win with an extra-time goal in the 112th minute after a goalless match.
Lautaro Martínez, the tournament’s top scorer with five goals, fired a shot past Colombia’s goalkeeper Camilo Vargas on a breakaway following a turnover.
Argentina, the defending champions of the tournament and winners of the 2022 World Cup, were the favorites throughout and never trailed in the competition.
However, they had to secure the title without Lionel Messi, widely regarded as one of the sport’s greatest players, who was substituted in the 66th minute due to an ankle injury.
