In a surprising turn of events, Saira Banu, wife of renowned Indian music composer and singer A.R. Rahman, has announced their separation after 29 years of marriage.
According to reports, A.R. Rahman and Saira Banu tied the knot in 1995, but after nearly three decades together, Saira has decided to part ways.
A statement released by Saira Banu’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, explained, “After many years of marriage, Saira has made the difficult choice to separate from her husband, A.R. Rahman, due to emotional stress within their relationship.”
The statement further read, “Despite their deep affection for each other, the tensions and challenges that developed over time have created a rift that neither side can bridge at present.”
Saira Banu, reflecting on her emotional state, requested privacy, stating, “This decision was made in a time of pain and distress. I ask the public to be understanding during this challenging period and allow us the space to live peacefully.”
