Hum Saath Saath Hain, a cherished family drama, holds a special place in Bollywood’s history.
After 25 years, Bollywood legend Madhuri Dixit has finally addressed the long-standing rumors about her supposed rejection of a role in the 1999 hit.
In a recent interview, Madhuri revealed that the decision not to cast her in the film was made by director Sooraj Barjatya, not by her. She explained, “It wasn’t my refusal. Sooraj Ji thought it would seem odd for me to play Salman Khan’s sister-in-law, particularly in scenes where he would touch my feet.”
The role eventually went to Tabu, whose portrayal became one of the film’s highlights. Madhuri emphasized, “It was Sooraj Ji’s hesitation, not mine, that led to this decision.”
Reflecting on the casting, Madhuri also shared that if she had been cast in Tabu’s role, the audience might have been confused due to her romantic pairing with Salman in Hum Aapke Hain Koun.
