Criminals use AI to replicate the voices and faces of celebrities, producing fake gifts, crypto schemes, and beauty product promotions, often leading to malware infections and online fraud.

McAfee’s survey revealed that 72% of Americans had seen fake celebrity endorsements, 39% clicked on such links, and 1 in 10 people had their money or personal data stolen, with an average loss of $525 per victim.

The report also noted that after Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson was the second most targeted celebrity. Other well-known personalities affected by deepfake scams include Jenna Ortega, Sydney Sweeney, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tom Cruise.
