Tabu commented that she’s neither a producer, director, nor scriptwriter, and therefore ‘cannot dictate who Shah Rukh Khan works with’ when asked why she hasn’t done a film with him.
Tabu made a cameo appearance in the 2007 movie Om Shanti Om, featuring in the song Deewangi Deewangi with Shah Rukh Khan.
She also had a small role in his 2004 movie Main Hoon Na and they portrayed a couple in Rani Mukerji and Vivek Oberoi’s Saathiya (2002).
Despite these appearances, they have never starred together in extended roles. In a recent interview with Galatta India, Tabu was asked when fans might see her in a film with Shah Rukh and why they haven’t done a romantic movie together.
She responded, “I am not a producer, director, or scriptwriter. I really can’t dictate who Shah Rukh Khan works with, which films are made, or which films are offered to me. I can only say yes or no to what is being offered to me.”
When asked if no films have been offered to them together, Tabu said, “They were offered. I know the films I have refused, and I’m sure he has also refused a few. So, nothing really happened where our paths crossed.”
Tabu also spoke about receiving ‘very expensive gifts’ from Shah Rukh. In a recent interview with Zoom, she recalled working with Shah Rukh and filmmaker Farah Khan in Om Shanti Om.
She mentioned her cameo in the song Deewangi Deewangi, where she wore a red saree in a slow-motion shot with Shah Rukh. She said, “We all did a shot together. I did it for Farah, and it was great fun. They made me some great clothes, hair, and makeup, and we got very expensive gifts from Shah Rukh Khan.”
The song also featured Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukerji, Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Jeetendra, and Tusshar Kapoor, among many other celebrities.
