Shehzad Roy, the renowned singer and social activist, has often been the subject of jokes about his youthful appearance. Breaking his silence for the first time, he openly discussed his age during an interview, putting all speculation to rest.
Shehzad shared that he began playing the guitar at the age of 13, encouraged by his mother, who bought him his first guitar. He revealed that music was deeply rooted in his family, with both parents having a strong interest in it, making his musical journey relatively smooth.
However, he also spoke about the challenges he faced in school, including being punished for playing the guitar. This experience inspired him to launch a campaign against corporal punishment in schools, particularly in government institutions, a cause in which he achieved significant success.
Shehzad also reflected on his music career, mentioning that his first politically themed album was released in 2009, followed by numerous songs addressing social and political issues.
He recalled his first international performance in 1998, where he performed alongside legendary singers like Junaid Jamshed, Sajjad Ali, and Ali Haider in the US. At that time, he was only 19 years old, the youngest among the performers, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience despite being teased by his seniors.
A resurfaced video of Shehzad mentioning his age as 19 in 1998 has gone viral on social media, leading to amusing reactions from fans. Based on his statement, Shehzad’s age in 2024 would be 45, dispelling myths about his seemingly ageless appearance.
Over the years, Shehzad has humorously addressed jokes about his age, once quipping that he secured a “stay order” from the Supreme Court to stop aging.
