Despite having a fleet of luxury cars, a team of chauffeurs, and a passion for horse riding, Bollywood megastar Saif Ali Khan had to rely on an auto-rickshaw in a critical moment on the night of January 16.
The actor was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital after being attacked by a burglar at his Bandra residence. According to reports, it was Saif’s 23-year-old son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and the house help who took him to the hospital, nearly two kilometers away, in a three-wheeler. This choice of transportation was prompted by the absence of a driver at the time of the emergency.
The incident occurred around 2:30 am when an intruder broke into Saif’s home, stabbing the actor six times when he attempted to intervene. About an hour later, Ibrahim and the house help managed to get Saif to the hospital. Police are investigating the attack, with an official stating that the assailant had entered the house with intentions to rob.
Saif is now out of danger after receiving treatment for wounds near his neck, hand, and close to his spinal cord. “He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger,” said Dr. Nitin Dange, the neurosurgeon who treated him at Lilavati Hospital.
While there were initial reports suggesting Ibrahim played a role in the transport, Saif’s manager later clarified that only the house help assisted the actor to the hospital. The Mumbai Police have identified one suspect and are continuing their investigation.
