”Ronaldo’s Future Plans” – No Rush to Retire from International Football

-

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of football’s all-time greats, has provided an update on his future as he approaches the latter stages of his illustrious career.

The Portuguese star, celebrated for his remarkable achievements, spoke about his retirement plans with characteristic confidence.

In a press conference ahead of Thursday’s Nations League game against Croatia in Lisbon, the 39-year-old confirmed that he has no immediate plans to retire from international football.

“When the right moment arrives, I’ll step aside. It won’t be a difficult decision,” Ronaldo said, emphasizing his belief that he still has a lot to offer Portugal.

He added, “If I feel I’m no longer making a difference, I’ll be the first to leave,” citing his former teammate Pepe, who retired gracefully last August at 41.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, currently playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, did not score in his record sixth European Championship this year, with Portugal being knocked out in the quarter-finals.

Despite media criticism, Ronaldo stated he “never considered leaving the national team” and retains the support of coach Roberto Martinez.

“People had unrealistic expectations of the national team,” Ronaldo observed, noting that challenges in a footballer’s career “help you grow.”

After Thursday’s match against Croatia, Portugal will remain in Lisbon to face Scotland on Sunday.
