Pakistani actress and social activist Faryal Gohar recently opened up about her personal journey, sharing how her style evolved after marriage. Speaking on a popular morning show, she revealed that while she wore Western-style clothing and mini skirts in her youth, love led her to adopt the burqa after tying the knot.
Faryal also gave insights into her unique family background. Her mother hailed from Gujarat, India, but the family had relocated to South Africa before 1910. Later, her mother moved to the UK, where she met Faryal’s father, a Pakistani army officer posted at the embassy. Their union eventually brought Faryal into the world.
The actress recalled her early career, starting at PTV at age 17, initially appearing in a minor role where only her hands were shown. She then ventured into hand modeling and acting in dramas, where she met her future husband Jamal Shah, whose charm and personality deeply impressed her. “Out of love, I even wore the burqa,” Faryal said with a laugh.
However, Faryal admitted that her in-laws were not supportive of her acting career, and she faced strict treatment after marriage. Discussing her divorce, she clarified that the separation was due to multiple reasons beyond Jamal Shah’s personality, which she chose not to elaborate on.
This candid interview sheds light on Faryal Gohar’s journey of love, career, and resilience, inspiring many with her honesty and life experiences.
