A woman was allegedly tortured to death by her in-laws on Tuesday in Kot Sultan village Korywali, Layyah, due to a delay in preparing food.
The Kot Sultan police have registered a murder case based on a complaint by Abdul Majeed, the uncle of the victim, Parveen Bibi.
According to reports, Parveen’s husband, Muhammad Yusuf, along with his brothers Muhammad Ejaz, Muhammad Younis, and Nadar, allegedly tortured her, questioning her about the delay in preparing food.
The first information report (FIR) states that the suspects severely beat Parveen Bibi with clubs, causing her to lose consciousness. She was transferred from the tehsil headquarters hospital to the district headquarters hospital, and then to Nishtar Hospital in Multan, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Complainant Majeed said a postmortem examination was conducted after her death. Layyah District Police Officer Asadur Rehman stated that the suspects would be arrested and emphasized that violence against women would not be tolerated. A special team has been formed to investigate the case.
