Now or Never: Will PTI’s Protest Surprise the Government on Nov 24?

All eyes are on Islamabad this Sunday as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the ruling coalition prepare for a critical confrontation

The political landscape in Pakistan is heating up as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the ruling coalition prepare for a critical confrontation on November 24. PTI has promised a “surprise,” while the government is confident the protest will fail, setting the stage for a dramatic clash.

PTI, led by the imprisoned Imran Khan, has called for a major nationwide protest against alleged electoral rigging, the arrests of party members, and the passage of the 26th Amendment. The protest, scheduled for November 24, is seen as the party’s “final call” for action.

Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, PTI leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson, told Geo News that the party is determined to overcome all government tactics and will carry out the protest in Islamabad despite the challenges. He accused the Punjab government, led by Maryam Nawaz, of targeting PTI supporters, with over 100 arrests and reports of harassment during raids.

With Section 144 imposed in Islamabad for two months, PTI has devised plans to bypass the restrictions and ensure their supporters reach the capital. Lawmakers have been instructed to mobilize thousands of supporters, reportedly under the guidance of Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife. Saif condemned the government’s actions as discriminatory and called on the public to rally behind PTI.

PML-N Senator Talal Chaudhry dismissed PTI’s strategy, calling the targets unrealistic and predicting the protest’s failure. He attributed PTI’s past failures to Bushra Bibi’s decisions and forecasted the movement’s collapse.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Latif Khosa remains confident that Imran Khan will be released before November 24, signaling a “drop scene” that could shake the government. He added that a massive turnout could “sweep away” the current regime.

As both sides prepare for the showdown, all eyes are on Islamabad this Sunday.
