According to sources, rainfall was reported in Gulshan-e-Maymar, Water Pump, Ayesha Manzil, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Groomender, Lasbela, Saddar, Lyari, and Liaquatabad, along with surrounding areas. North Nazimabad, Hidri, and adjacent neighborhoods also experienced heavy downpours.

Heavy Rain Brings Relief to Karachi

The Meteorological Department (PMD) stated that during the rain spell, most parts of the city could receive 40 to 50 mm of rainfall, while some areas may see 70 to 80 mm, and in certain locations up to 100 mm.

KElectric and Traffic Police Advisory

KElectric has advised residents to exercise caution while using electrical appliances during the rain and to avoid broken wires and electrical installations. Temporary power shutdowns may occur in low-lying areas due to water accumulation.

The Traffic Police urged citizens to drive carefully, maintain safe distances, avoid sudden braking, and for motorcyclists to keep to the left side of the road.

The Meteorological Department had forecast heavy rainfall from August 17 to 19 across most districts of Sindh. Rain in Karachi is expected to continue until August 23, with one or two heavy spells that may lead to urban flooding.

Authorities warned that heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning could disrupt daily life and advised people to take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.
