Imagine risking everything for love — only to watch it slip away.
That’s the storm Seema Haider finds herself caught in, as she begs to stay in India while the government cracks down on Pakistani nationals after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.
“I was Pakistan’s daughter, but now I’m India’s daughter-in-law,” Seema said through tears in an emotional video, appealing directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to save her from deportation.
Seema first captured national attention in 2023 when she left her Pakistani husband, crossed into India via Nepal with her four children, and married her online gaming friend, Sachin Meena, in Greater Noida. She later embraced Hinduism and recently gave birth to a daughter, Bharti Meena — sealing her new life on Indian soil.
But after the terror strike in Pahalgam, India slammed its doors shut — suspending visas and ordering Pakistani citizens to leave. Now, Seema’s future hangs by a thread.
Her lawyer, Advocate AP Singh, is standing firm. “Seema is no longer a Pakistani citizen. She’s tied to an Indian husband, raising an Indian child. The government’s order should not affect her,” he argued.
The Ministry of External Affairs has canceled all Pakistani visas effective April 27, giving medical visa holders a brief grace period until April 29. Every Pakistani national must exit India before their visa expires — or face serious consequences.
Once a young woman from Karachi, Seema now clings to hope in Greater Noida, her love story colliding with politics and fear.
Will India open its heart — or slam the door shut?
