Pakistan Hosts 3,000 Indian Sikh Pilgrims for Guru Nanak’s 555th Anniversary
In honor of the 555th birth anniversary of Sikh spiritual leader Baba Guru Nanak, around 3,000 Indian Sikh pilgrims are set to arrive in Pakistan on November 14. The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued visas for the pilgrims, who will participate in celebrations across Pakistan from November 14-23, 2024. Guru Nanak, revered as the founder of Sikhism, is the first of the ten Sikh Gurus.
Ramesh Singh Arora, President of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, along with officials from the Evacuee Trust Property Board, will warmly receive the pilgrims at the Wagah border in Lahore. Extensive hospitality arrangements have been made to accommodate the visitors.
The main ceremony will be held on November 15 at Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib, Guru Nanak’s birthplace. Pilgrims will be provided with medical, accommodation, and travel facilities, as well as comprehensive security to ensure a comfortable and safe experience.
This annual gathering not only celebrates Baba Guru Nanak’s legacy but also fosters interfaith harmony and strengthens cultural ties between the Sikh community and Pakistan.
