Owning an expensive motorcycle in the city has become increasingly challenging as they are frequently stolen or snatched at gunpoint. Any resistance to these thefts can result in the owner being injured or even killed.
Police data from the past six months reveals that the Suzuki 110 is a particularly popular target for thieves. During this period, 647 of these motorcycles, valued at Rs190.41 million, were stolen or snatched.
The data indicates that the highest number of thefts occurred in February. Specifically, 108 Suzuki 110 motorcycles were stolen or snatched in November, 82 in December, 105 in January, 148 in February, 140 in March, and 64 in April. The increasing number of incidents has left motorcycle owners feeling insecure.
Citizens are urging the police and government to take decisive action against motorcycle theft without discrimination.
In a recent incident, a new Suzuki 110 was snatched at gunpoint in Zamanabad, Landhi. Earlier this week, armed suspects snatched an expensive motorcycle from Muhammad Naveed, who was on his way to a job interview in the New Town Police Station area, shooting and injuring him when he resisted.
