As Ramadan approaches, Sindh has officially revised school timings, while Punjab is considering similar adjustments to ease the schedule for fasting students and staff.

In Sindh, the new timetable applies to both single and double-shift schools. According to a notification from the Sindh Education Department, double-shift primary schools will run from 7:30 am to 11:30 am for the first shift and 11:45 am to 2:45 pm for the second.

Single-shift primary schools will operate from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. On Fridays, the first double shift will conclude at 10:30 am, single-shift schools will close at 11:30 am, and the second double shift will continue until 1:15 pm.

The same schedule applies to secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools. The decision, made under the directives of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, aims to provide a more manageable routine during the holy month.

Meanwhile, Punjab’s School Education Department has proposed a two-hour reduction in school hours. A recent meeting in Lahore discussed new timings of 7:30 am to 12:15 pm for girls’ schools and 8:00 am to 12:30 pm for boys’ schools, compared to the usual 2:30 pm and 2:45 pm closure. The proposal is awaiting final approval, with the revised schedule expected to take effect from the start of Ramadan.
