From Runway to Highway-Retired Aircraft Travels to Hyderabad From Karachi by Road

-

In an unprecedented feat, Pakistan witnessed history on wheels as a decommissioned aircraft made its way from Karachi to Hyderabad—marking the first-ever road transport of such a massive aviation marvel in the country.

A decommissioned aircraft from Karachi has reached Hyderabad via Sajawal, Thatta, and Tando Muhammad Khan.

The aircraft, which departed from Karachi Airport, was being transported to Hyderabad via the National Highway. It was dismantled into three parts and loaded onto a multi-axle trailer for the journey.

The aircraft, measuring 150 feet in length and weighing 40 tons, completed the 8-hour road trip from Karachi Airport to Hyderabad. According to the CAA spokesperson, the Saudi aircraft, which crash-landed at Karachi Airport 13 years ago, was moved to Hyderabad on a giant trailer.

This marks the first time in Pakistan’s history that an aircraft has been transported by road to Hyderabad. The operation was conducted using a German technology-enabled trailer, with all necessary NOCs obtained in advance.

The aircraft is the second to be moved to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority’s training institute “CATI” in Hyderabad. A Boeing aircraft was also transported to Hyderabad via the motorway a few days ago.
