JDC’s Zafar Abbas in Turmoil as His Vigo Involved in Karachi Hit-and-Run

Two Bikers Seriously Injured by JDC’s Driver

Karachi – A vehicle registered to Zafar Abbas, prominent social activist and head of the JDC Foundation, was involved in a serious hit-and-run incident late Sunday night in Karachi’s Ancholi area, leaving two young motorcyclists seriously injured.

According to police and eyewitness accounts, the double-cabin Vigo was traveling in the wrong direction—allegedly attempting a shortcut—when it collided head-on with the motorcycle, which was in its proper lane. CCTV footage confirms the Vigo’s traffic violation and shows the reckless maneuver that caused the crash.

Initial claims by Zafar Abbas that the motorcyclists were riding without headlights were quickly disproven by police through analysis of the footage, which clearly showed the victims following traffic rules.

The Vigo was reportedly being driven by a JDC office employee, accompanied by two security guards, at the time of the incident. The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. However, police were able to trace the vehicle after recovering its dislodged number plate from the site.

District Central Police have arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle. A case has been registered by Samanabad Police, and officials state that legal proceedings are ongoing based on video evidence and eyewitness statements.

Zafar Abbas, who reached the scene shortly after the incident, said the vehicle had been taken to purchase ice and confirmed that JDC personnel transported the injured victims to a private hospital. Both youths are now reportedly out of danger.

Police have assured the public of a transparent investigation, stating that the law will take its full course.
