-

In a startling incident in Karachi, two men dressed as police officers abducted a citizen and extorted a large ransom.

The incident occurred in Korangi’s Mehran Town, where the suspects kidnapped a man named Nadeem and extorted Rs500,000 in ransom, according to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Korangi.

The SSP confirmed that a case has been registered, with CCTV footage showing two suspects in police uniforms and a third in civilian clothing armed with a weapon.

Nadeem shared his experience, saying, “They blindfolded me as soon as I was taken and drove me around. They initially demanded Rs1 million.”

He added, “When I couldn’t meet their demand, they threatened to kill me and my children. Finally, we settled on Rs500,000.”

Nadeem’s family delivered the ransom at a petrol station near Natha Khan Bridge, after which he was held for four hours and then released nearby.

Police are investigating the case and working to identify the suspects.
