The Meteorological Department Reports Theft of Flood Warning System

-

Usman Shahzad, an electronic engineer at the meteorological department, filed a complaint at Newtown police station regarding a theft.

According to the FIR, stolen items include automatic systems and water level gauges installed at various locations to monitor flood-prone areas, such as Nullah Leh. These systems provide real-time data on rainfall and water levels across 15 rain drains.

Efforts are underway to restore Rawalpindi’s flood alert system following the disruption caused by this recent robbery.

Officials have temporarily turned to manual gauges to monitor water levels in major drains until the automated system is fully operational again by Monday night.

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the theft and registered a case.
