During the holy month of Ramadan in Karachi, the city’s battle against street crime was brought sharply into focus as 16 lives were tragically lost in robbery incidents.
Throughout Ramadan, a staggering total of 6,780 street crime incidents were documented within Karachi’s city limits. Among these incidents, 20 automobiles were forcefully taken, with over 130 others stolen. Additionally, a distressing trend emerged with 4,200 bikes stolen and 830 others snatched, along with 1,600 cell phones targeted by perpetrators.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah voiced serious concern over the worsening law and order situation, urging law enforcement agencies to ramp up security measures across the city, particularly with Eid-ul-Fitr approaching.
During a pivotal high-level meeting, CM Murad lauded the police force for their recent success in rescuing two hostages, Abdullah and Kashif, during a raid in Baldia Town. The operation led to the capture of suspects Sabir Inayat Rehman, Hayat Ali, and Wahidullah, who had deceived their victims with false promises of facilitating migration to Italy before abducting them for ransom.
Despite the challenges posed by criminals operating from abroad, CM Murad reiterated his dedication to closely collaborating with police officials to tackle criminal activities and ensure public safety throughout Karachi.
