After MWM , Ahl e Sunnah Al Jamat Also Announced Sit Ins on 60 Key Spot in Karachi
As the whole world is gearing up for New Year celebrations, Karachi isset to ring in 2024 with a series of sit-ins around the city.
The protests, organized by various groups including Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Ahl e Sunnah Wa’al Jamaat Karachi (ASWJ) , are focused on demanding justice for the victims of the Parachinar tragedy.
MWM is currently holding protests at 10 different spots in Karachi against the Kurram issue, leading to road closures and frustration among residents. These ongoing sit-ins,for several days have already disrupted the city’s streets as protesters gather at key spots across Karachi.
With 60 new sit-ins announced by Ahl e Sunnah Al Jamaat (AWSJ) the city is bracing for a tense start to the New Year. AWSJ will start sit-ins from Tuesday afternoon at Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Hydari Market, Sakhi Hasan Mobile Market, Nagan Chowrangi, 4k Chowrangi, Sohrab Goth, Karimabad, Sharah e Faisal, Lasbela Chowk, Civic Centre, Gulshan Chowrangi, Mosmayat Chowk, Baloch Colony, Akhtar Colony and other locations if the government fails to meet their demand.
Major traffic intersections and thoroughfares, are expected to be blocked, causing significant disruptions for commuters and residents alike. The protests have already caused travel delays, with Karachi’s traffic police struggling to manage the situation.
In response to the growing unrest, the police have formulated a comprehensive security plan. Additional law enforcement personnel, including police and Rangers, have been deployed at key protest sites to maintain order and prevent any violence.
Authorities have also announced that they will take necessary action to remove blockages and restore traffic flow. Police checkpoints will be set up near major intersections, and quick-response teams will be on standby to handle any emergencies or clashes that may arise.
Local leaders have expressed solidarity with the victims’ families but have urged the protesters to limit their demonstrations. However, with multiple groups now staging sit-ins across the city, Karachi’s New Year celebrations will be overshadowed by the ongoing unrest.
