Unmasking the Truth – FIA Investigates Disinformation Behind Lahore Rape Claims

-

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shehrbano Naqvi has refuted rape claims in the case of a Lahore college student, urging anyone with credible evidence to come forward.

She clarified that the girl, central to the allegations, had been hospitalized 10 days prior to the incident, with her medical records showing no signs of assault.

The girl’s family maintains that her injuries resulted from a fall at home, not a rape.

The spread of these allegations online led to protests across Lahore, resulting in violent clashes with police and 28 injuries, including four officers. Despite the unrest, police have found no evidence supporting the rape claims. Protests continue across Punjab, with students demanding justice.

In response to the disinformation, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has formed a seven-member team to investigate the sources of the false reports. An FIA spokesperson stated, “We are committed to using all available resources to ensure accountability.”

Despite clarifications from the family and authorities, political tensions remain. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has urged political figures to refrain from exploiting the incident for personal gain, stressing the family’s request for privacy.

ASP Naqvi reaffirmed that there is no evidence of sexual assault, pointing to medical records from before the alleged incident. “There is no victim here,” she stated.

As protests continue, the investigation remains crucial in clearing the air and restoring order amid the ongoing disinformation.
