“Empowering Peace” – Pakistani Female Officers Win Gender Advocacy Award

In a noteworthy acknowledgment of their efforts, two Pakistani peacekeepers have been honored for their work in advancing gender equality within peacekeeping.

Major Sania Safdar and Major Komal Masood, pioneering female officers from Pakistan, have received the Gender Advocacy Award from the Under Secretary-General of the Department of Peace Operations at UNHQ in New York. Major Sania served in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, while Major Komal was deployed to the Central African Republic.

This prestigious award highlights their exceptional professionalism and unwavering commitment to the principles of the United Nations.

Both officers have made significant strides in promoting peace and stability, particularly by enhancing the meaningful participation of women in peacekeeping efforts.

Their contributions have been recognized by the respective Mission Force Commanders, reflecting Pakistan’s strong dedication to the UN Peacekeeping mandate and the vital role of its peacekeepers.

This recognition further underscores Pakistan’s commitment to advancing global peace and security through active involvement in UN peacekeeping missions
