AfterPat Cummins, Naseer Hussain and Mick Arterton, another voice has emerged questioning the advantage India enjoys in the Champions Trophy. South African batter Rassie van der Dussen has pointed out that India’s edge in the tournament is obvious and not difficult to understand.
Speaking in Karachi, the aggressive batter said that India benefits from staying in one location, with no travel, the same hotel, familiar practice facilities, and consistent playing conditions on the same pitches. “If that’s not an advantage, then what is?” he remarked.
Van der Dussen further stated that this clearly benefits India, and it’s not a complicated concept. However, how they utilize this advantage is up to them.
He also noted that this could create pressure for India, as any team playing against them in the semi-finals or final will be unfamiliar with Dubai’s conditions, while India will be playing in what is essentially home territory. “The pressure will be on them to make the most of these conditions,” he added.
