Jimmy Choo, the legendary luxury shoe designer whose creations have graced Hollywood red carpets and royal wardrobes, recently visited Lahore to experience Pakistan’s vibrant fashion scene. His admiration for local craftsmanship and discussions on future collaborations have sparked excitement in the industry.

Exploring Pakistani Fashion
Accompanied by his niece, Lucy Choi, Choo explored the ateliers of renowned designers such as Faraz Manan, Kamiar Rokni, Nilofer Shahid, and Rehan Bashir Jalwana. He was captivated by the intricate embroidery, hand embellishments, and fusion of traditional and contemporary styles that define Pakistani couture.
“This visit brought back memories of how we started the Jimmy Choo brand—with a deep focus on hand embellishments and handmade craftsmanship,” shared Lucy Choi.
Future Collaborations on the Horizon?
Choo’s visit was facilitated by Sarwar Khawaja, Patron of Arts at the Jimmy Choo Academy (JCA), and his wife Faiza Khan, Company Director at JCA. The academy, dedicated to fostering emerging talent, is exploring ways to bridge Pakistani fashion with the global market.
“We are not officially collaborating with any Pakistani designers yet, but we wanted to witness their work firsthand and explore ways to showcase Pakistani fashion globally,” Khawaja stated.
While no formal agreements were made, discussions touched on student exchanges and internship opportunities. Choo also emphasized the importance of Pakistani designers participating in major fashion weeks like those in London, New York, and Shanghai to gain global recognition.
Giving Back & Looking Ahead
At 76, Jimmy Choo remains passionate about education and mentorship. During his stay, he visited a local school and an orphanage, reinforcing JCA’s interest in nurturing young Pakistani designers.
“Learning never stops, no matter your age,” Choo remarked, reflecting his lifelong commitment to craftsmanship and innovation.
Though his visit may not immediately open international doors, it has undeniably shone a global spotlight on Pakistan’s rich fashion legacy. With his words of encouragement and appreciation, Choo has inspired local designers to elevate their work onto the world stage—proving that true artistry knows no borders.
