In a jaw-dropping turn of events, a passenger van collided with a stationary IndiGo aircraft at Kempe Gowda International Airport, Bengaluru, on April 18, 2025. The aircraft, which had been grounded for engine repairs since 2022, was parked at Alpha Parking Bay 71 when the van, operated by a third-party ground handling agency, crashed into its undercarriage.

Reports revealed that the driver, who was transporting airline staff, had fallen asleep at the wheel. He only realized the collision after it occurred. Thankfully, there were no passengers or crew on board the aircraft at the time, and the driver sustained only minor injuries.

The incident has quickly gone viral, sparking intense discussions about airport safety protocols. With images of the damaged van and aircraft circulating widely on social media, experts are now calling for a thorough review of ground handling procedures to prevent similar mishaps in the future.
