A Rs. 1 Billion Job That No One Wants

-

A job with an annual salary of nearly Rs. 1 billion sounds like a dream, but surprisingly, no one is willing to take it.

The position is at the historic Lighthouse of Alexandria in Egypt, constructed after a devastating incident involving Captain Mauricius, a famed sailor. His ship sank near Alexandria due to a violent storm and hidden rocks, resulting in immense loss of life and cargo. This tragedy underscored the need for a guiding beacon to ensure ships could safely navigate the area.

A Rs. 1 Billion Job That No One Wants

In response, an experienced architect built the towering lighthouse in the middle of the sea, and its keeper was assigned the critical role of ensuring the light never goes out. While the task seems straightforward, the challenges involved make it one of the most daunting jobs in the world.

The lighthouse keeper must endure extreme isolation in the open ocean, battling violent storms and massive waves that occasionally engulf the structure. The constant risk to life and the harsh working conditions make this position more terrifying than enticing.

Despite its minimal routine tasks and exceptional pay, the fear of isolation and life-threatening conditions outweighs the appeal, leaving this high-paying role with no takers.
