Telecom Sector-New Record with Rs 956 Billion Revenue in FY 2023-24

Pakistan’s telecom sector achieved record-breaking revenue of Rs 956 billion during the fiscal year 2023-24, as highlighted in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) 2024 annual report. Despite economic challenges, the sector witnessed a significant growth of over 17% compared to the previous fiscal year 2022-23.

The report highlights advancements in technology, infrastructure development, and ongoing reforms. Mobile phone services now cover 91% of the population, while 4G services are accessible to 81%. The total number of telecom subscribers grew to 196 million by September 2024.

Broadband users also saw a notable rise, increasing from 127.6 million in June 2023 to 142.3 million. Mobile internet speeds improved by 28%, with average speeds rising from 15.65 Mbps to 20.02 Mbps.

Additionally, the report states that 29.6 million mobile devices were locally manufactured during FY 2023-24.
