As the winter chill settles in across Quetta, dry fruits, known for their health benefits during the colder months, are seeing a significant rise in prices. Packed with nutrients and healthy fats, dry fruits can provide warmth, energy, and immunity against common winter illnesses, making them a popular choice for many.
However, local vendors and consumers are feeling the impact of price hikes. Pine nuts are now being sold for 14,000 rupees per kilogram, dried figs for 4,000 rupees, and cashews for 3,600 rupees per kilogram. The price of pistachios has also surged to 3,000 rupees per kilogram in the cold weather.
At dry fruit shops, raisins are priced at 1,600 rupees, almonds range from 1,600 to 2,000 rupees, and walnuts are being sold for 1,000 to 1,200 rupees per kilogram.
Despite the price increase, these nutrient-rich dry fruits remain an essential part of winter diets, offering numerous health benefits during the season.
